Pig’s
Tusk |

Marlin |
|
On the island of Pa’ama in Vanuatu, neighboring villages compete to
see who can hook the largest marlin, which is a difficult fish to
catch. If your village should catch a marlin, you must carry the
head to the neighboring village. The head serves as a challenge to
your neighbors. |

Endangered Turtle |
|
A
species of giant turtle is on the verge of becoming extinct in
Vanuatu. A campaign headed-up by a local nonprofit has been
underway since 1995 to educate communities about saving the turtle.
Drama groups tour the islands putting on plays about turtle
conservation. |

Shark |
|
Certain people with magical powers in Vanuatu (klevas) have the
ability to change forms. You’d better be worried if a kleva lures
you to the beach; he may turn into a shark with bad intentions. |
